Clutch Torque Tube Bushing retainer clip

Is there a trick to installing the ball stud bushing retainer clip on the clutch torque tube while its in the car? My alternative is to release the big spring and remove the tube assembly. That is one BIG spring and is going to be a bear to get back on.

If you are talking about the overcenter spring there is very little tension on that when the clutch pedal is in the up or down position. That spring aids in moving it up, or down from center, and is easy to unhook. That is at least on the P15-D24. Not sure what you are working on, and do not have time at the moment to browse you previous posts to find out:)

The spring I was referring to is the counter balance spring for the pedal. It is a little smaller than a hood spring! It took 4 hours but I did get it back on using some 3/8" steel cable and a turnbuckle. Very slow going and it must have been on and jumped off at least 20 times. When I unhooked it, I took it off from the front. There was no way to reinstall that way so I focused on the back where getting the end of the spring would be easier. I hope never to take it off again!

I did that same spring on a 39 P8 . They are kinda tough to do even with the inner fender panel off! Even the master cylinder and the rest of the linkages is a PITA to get at!!! That over center spring is a smaller diameter spring than the later 46 and up cars too.
