alan32433 Posted January 14, 2011 Report Posted January 14, 2011 Anyone know a good source for carpet sets for our cars (mine 48 DeSoto). I see Kanter has them, but they don't say much about their fit or quality. I was hoping I could find something with known good quality. Alan Quote
DonaldSmith Posted January 14, 2011 Report Posted January 14, 2011 I bought some boat carpet for my 47 DeSoto a few years ago. It looks like the horsehair carpeting that was in the car originally (Suburban only?). It took some work to fit the new carpet to the transmission hump. The stock carpets were two-piece with serged edges, but I didn't want to pay someone to serge the carpet. Quote
Bingster Posted January 15, 2011 Report Posted January 15, 2011 I got samples from SMS Auto Fabrics in Canby, Oregon, and they can supply perfect matches to original. I have a '47 Desoto. They're pricey! email: info@smsautofabrics.com Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted January 15, 2011 Report Posted January 15, 2011 (edited) I bought a roll of carpet and felt padding from a fabric supplier in Kansas City, MO. Then took it to an upholstry shop who cut, fit and edged it. He made a section on the driver's floor that you can fold back to get to the master cylinder under the floor. Also added a vinyl heel protection pad. For doing the front and rear floors, along with the trunk floor, he charged me $250. He provided some vinyl used for edging.
