41/53dodges Posted January 13, 2011 Report Posted January 13, 2011 are there any newer-model rings that would fit a stock 218? just kinda curious, one of the trucks will need em' someday. Quote
Merle Coggins Posted January 13, 2011 Report Posted January 13, 2011 (edited) How 'bout gettin' new rings made to fit a Mopar 218 CID engine? They are available at many sources. From Napaonline; Seal Power - SEP E108X Economy Set - $53.99 Merle Edited January 13, 2011 by Merle Coggins Quote
41/53dodges Posted January 14, 2011 Author Report Posted January 14, 2011 i found those, but i am wondering if they are the exact same as original or are there more durable ones? right now im just looking for in case your old engine needs em'. got it going for about 5 seconds, and the darn thing smoked like hell! its probably just due to stuck rings and the oil i have to put into the cylinders for enough compression to start. MBF Posted January 14, 2011 Report Posted January 14, 2011 You may want to check out a machine shop that specializes in building engines. They have catalogs based on specifications that are not application specific. What I mean by that is that they can take exact measurements and obtain parts based on those specs. Mike Quote
41/53dodges Posted January 14, 2011 Author Report Posted January 14, 2011 lack of $, excess of projects, i have to do everything myself, but i do have access to a machine shop... Quote

I has also dumped some oil into it when I did the compression test, some of it you found in the intake. It'll take quite a while to burn that all out. Merle Quote
austinsailor Posted January 14, 2011 Report Posted January 14, 2011 (edited) I had that happen on a couple engines, burning the oil I dumped in. fogged the whole neighborhood. but, with new rotella, half an hour of running, they cleared up, don't smoke and use no oil. you need to give it a chance to clean itself out.
