Anyone know of a source for pistons for a "finer 6" 3.135 (.010) oversize? I have a 30 Desoto that needs engine work.

Egge will make them but costly. Any leads would be appreciated.:)

Terrell Machine lists 3.125" pistons for 31 to 50 Chrysler straight 8's and for 34 to 59 Dodge and Plymouth. He usually has up to .060 over stock in stock. Depending on piston pin location from the crown maybe one of the Chrysler, Dodge or Plymouth pistons would work. The Dodge/Plymouth pistons with pins are listed at $144.00 for a set of six, The Chrysler for for $192 for a set of eight. His phone number is 254-893-2610 in DeLeon, Texas, he gives very fast service. I bought all of my parts for the 41 Dodge engine I rebuilt from him and have been very satisfied with them.

You are correct. I miss calculated when I converted to decimals in my head, I was thinking of 3.130" that he needed and converted 1/4" to be .125" This from a person who spent his whole working career using decimals and should know better. I have always converted 16ths, 8ths and quarters into decimals automatically in my head but I slipped up on this one, power of suggestion.

I talked to Terrell machine, I have to pull the pistons and check the pin size and pin to top distance, may be able to use the 201 pistons. thanks for all your help

Jamesply, as a former owner of 1930 Chrysler, I would enjoy very much to see any pictures of the 30 DeSoto.

The picture here was taken about 1962. I still dream about that car.

Thanks.

Thank you very much for letting me see that. One picture is enough to make me sick with jealousy. What a beautiful car. MMMMMMM MMMMMMMM MMMMMMM

It is sometimes painful to think of the stupid things I did.

Upon farther dis-assembly I will have to go .020 oversized, will be getting dementions on the piston later today. The prior person that did work on this engine was NOT :mad:good at all, I found rod caps torqued to 10lbs one side, and the other side to 60lbs:eek:. the head had several loose also. I will be removing the engine for complete dis-assembly, and do a correct rebuild with new pistons and whatever else I find wrong. This old car will be running correctly, with correct wiring, engine, brakes ETC.:D
