Jim Shepard Posted January 4, 2011 Report Posted January 4, 2011 On a 230 with the extra water jacket (little bump-out on the front of the head and block), is the water pump different than on a 218 or 230 without the extra jacket? Quote
41/53dodges Posted January 4, 2011 Report Posted January 4, 2011 i dont think the pump itself is different, but the fitting on top is. Quote
MBF Posted January 4, 2011 Report Posted January 4, 2011 Jim-I'm going from memory here, and there was a thread on this. I think the difference is one has a threaded pipe fitting on the top of the pump, and the other has two threaded bolt holes with an opening for the bypass fitting. I can look further if needed. Merle Coggins Posted January 4, 2011 Report Posted January 4, 2011 The water pump for the internal bypass engines have an extra port in the backing plate that will line up with the port on the block. I believe that some replacement pumps are made to work with either type. Just check to see that your pump has that extra hole. Read this thread for pics. http://www430.pair.com/p15d24/mopar_forum/showthread.php?t=6316&highlight=Water+Pump Merle Quote
