Why so uptight in the parts wanted forum?

I made a post earlier today looking for parts and/or info for park brake mechanisms, and got a message that says a moderator has to approve it first. Haven't seen that message on any of my other posts, and still no moderator approval...

Gotta watch out in there...someone might get out of hand asking for too many parts :D

When I started it was flooded with crap from drugs to hard core porn. The approval process is usually less than 24 hours and no legit ad is ever turned down. Got tired of spending hours chasing down and deleting spammer crap. Start a forum and see what happens!

And because he wants to be a one man control freak he is the only moderator!

So I only get to the updates nightly. If you had any idea the number of spam hits I get in one day you would go "screw it it isn't worth the effort." At one point before I put in the registration question I was getting 50-75 spam registrations a day, plus the legit ones mixed in with the crap. (They use bots to register automatically) The "control" is to eliminate the time needed to kill the spammers on a daily basis. Pretty much everything goes straight through if it isn't spam. Newest attack point is "Reported posts" as I'm now getting 1-5 a day.

You forget i was a mod for years on a few sites and know full well how many and the tricks they pull. I have a few tricks of my own i used to get even with them. I have offered in the past to help you out as i know how much of a pain it is, it is the least i can do since i don't have much extra $$ to donate.

I totally inderstand. I'm an administrator on Pontiaczone and the Taco Minibikes board, and know exactly what you mean. It seems to be really bad on a fairly new board, and tapers off after awhile. Th owner of Pontiaczone had sold the board and started a new one. That new board got bombarded daily for months before it toned down. But it did. Eventually he re-aquired Pontiaczone and merged them.

The Taco board also got bombarded when new, but now rarely gets any spam.

I cannot say enough about how nice this site is, before you installed the new controls I was getting a lot of spam every day. I haven't had any spam in about 4 to 6 months. I only visit two sites and limit my opening other peoples internet posts so must have gotten the spam from one of the two sites. I cannot thank you enough for all of your hard work on this site, if I had to do it it would never happen. Lack of knowledge on computer programing would prevent it from happening.

Yep, great site. Good people from what I'v seen. And you just have to love the vBulletin boards. I'm always amazed at how many options there are on them, and a lot better to moderate than some of the older style boards.
