318Pilothouse Posted December 24, 2010 Report Posted December 24, 2010 Hi Everyone I am still looking for help on the lights issue. Does anyone have pictures or help? Is there anyone that has there's done? Also what is suggested for the brakes? I have heard and read that it is nice to keep the pedal through the floor setup.......... Quote
41/53dodges Posted December 25, 2010 Report Posted December 25, 2010 exactly what "lights" issue are you speaking of? also, what is wrong with your stock brake pedal system? my 2/3 stock system works great! Quote
318Pilothouse Posted January 15, 2011 Author Report Posted January 15, 2011 I want to get lights set up on the truck. I am doing most of my truck as a custom, but i am having trouble getting lights figured out. The original light off the one side is not what i want i would like to get turn signals, reverse lights and brake lights but cannot find any good options. I am looking for someone who has done lights on there truck that i could take the idea from. As far as my brakes i am hoping to out in a power brake system unless someone has a better idea to offer there. I don't have much knowledge on braking systems. I would essentially like to have disc brakes all the way around but i do not know whats best. I am putting a 318 in with a 727 torqueflight tranny and a dana 60 3/4 ton rear end, to handle the torque ill be pulling. Also is there anyone who had to redo the running boards mine are rusted through in some spots but still in good condition over all. Quote
51 Fargo Posted January 15, 2011 Report Posted January 15, 2011 here is the brake set up I used.. sits almost in the factory spot just a little trim in the floor pan.... after market corvette master and Vac boster . You use a Gm Porportioning valve for disc in front or gm one for drum all around. Quote
Dave72dt Posted January 15, 2011 Report Posted January 15, 2011 There's a forum member who sells disc kits for the front. Some are going to a late model jeep rear axle to get a rear gear ratio that's more freeway freindly and also have rear discs. DANA 60 is way overkill for a 318. Check some of the off-road sites for the Dana. They may have a source or check with Currie. If they don't have something to fit a Dana, they'll know who does. Signalstat 900 series for turn signals, will need some additional wire run to the rear for a second rear and turn signals. Reverse light runs of a terminal on the trans. Running board repairs will need sections from donor`boards or a good sheetmetal bender. Barry Maxwell used the last of my boards to repair his. Rear lights are going to depend on what kind of look you want. I'm going to start on mine in the next couple of weeks. Will be frenched in to match the front. Quote
austinsailor Posted January 15, 2011 Report Posted January 15, 2011 You say you want lights? How's this? Quote
Dan Babb Posted January 16, 2011 Report Posted January 16, 2011 Might find some inspiration here http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=286568 If you want a stock look, vintage power wagons sells a nice set that won't empty your wallet. Quote
Dan Babb Posted January 16, 2011 Report Posted January 16, 2011 This is probably too long, but maybe it would work http://www.etrailer.com/Trailer-Lights/Optronics/STL76RB.html Quote
41/53dodges Posted January 16, 2011 Report Posted January 16, 2011 You say you want lights? How's this? ITS LIKE CHRISTMAS! why is it you find a dozen lights on one truck, but i find a dozen trucks with no lights? Quote
