oldodge41 Posted December 22, 2010 Report Posted December 22, 2010 Has anyone used this Fel-Pro gasket set? (Part #TCS41552) It says it includes everything necessary for timing cover removal. Appears to include seal. Is that correct? I took my timing cover off today due to a major leak that developed last time I drove the car. The seal is shot and the piece the seal rides on has a big groove in it. Need to replace the seal, gasket and get a speedi sleeve. Also broke a bolt out of the front motor mount rubber that I will have to repair or replace............Tim Quote
alan32433 Posted December 23, 2010 Report Posted December 23, 2010 The Fel Pro sets I am familiar with do include the seal. Just a suggestion. If you want a really good set of gaskets, look on eBay for your model and search for Best gaskets. I've used Best gaskets and compared to Fel Pro, they are far superior. The Best gasket set includes a large felt seal that goes between your damper hub and the timing cover seal. That keeps dirt out of your seal. Your model will run about $18 for the timing set. When you get them, you'll see what I'm talking about. Here's their website: http://bestgasket.com/ You may already know this, but be very careful when tightening the lower timing cover bolts. If its like my DeSoto and I suspect it is, the lower bolts go through to an aluminum plate that the oil pan seals to. The aluminum plate threads are very prone to stripping. When I rebuilt my engine, I had to replace the plate with a NOS one that I was fortunate enough to find. Alan Quote

hkestes41 Posted December 23, 2010 Report Posted December 23, 2010 I used a Best Gasket Graphtite rope rear main seal about 18 months ago and have had no leaks from the area since. Quote
