richards47deluxe Posted October 19, 2010 Report Posted October 19, 2010 Has anybody run dual exhaust out the back without splitting the exhaust manifold? If so, how does it sound? Quote
james curl Posted October 19, 2010 Report Posted October 19, 2010 One of the members of my car club has a slant six early Dodge Dart and had a muffler installed with one inlet but two outlets from a late model Camero. It sounds OK, not like split manifold or headers but better than stock. Quote
richards47deluxe Posted October 19, 2010 Author Report Posted October 19, 2010 Thanks for the reply. Just wondering how it would sound straight pipe out the back. Quote
dezeldoc Posted October 19, 2010 Report Posted October 19, 2010 It won't be as loud and won't have as much rappp as a split, but it still sounds better than stock. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted October 19, 2010 Report Posted October 19, 2010 (edited) I've got only one pipe, and one muffler, which is a resonator type muffler. It makes a little decent sound at low speed, but is just simply a little louder at speed. Need to replace it with something better. There's a muffler shop guy around here who says he can make a good sounding single pipe/two muffler system using the longest length of glasspacks. Don't know what brand muffler he uses. LAKOTA169 Posted October 19, 2010 Report Posted October 19, 2010 I've got the single in/dual out exhaust on my '37. don't know the brand of muffler (was installed when I bought car). The tips are about 15" echo cans (little larger than exhaust pipes). Doesn't sound like a six cylinder. has a little rap when letting of on gas or down shifting. Is kind of noisy inside of car above 40/45. Quote
