StayFrosty Posted October 18, 2010 Report Posted October 18, 2010 (edited) Hello everyone, I bought a '49 Plymouth about a month ago and have slowly been getting it back in to roadworthy condition. One of the next projects I am going to tackle is the wiring. I think I've got a pretty solid grasp of what is going on with one minor exception. There's this "mystery light" on my dash just to the right of the gauges. Some times it's off, some times it blinks and sometimes it's on solid. What is this thing? I'm probably way off but a couple of my theories so far have been aftermarket turn signal indicator (I doubt it since there is a light on the stick) or some sort of low battery/charging indicator. greg g Posted October 18, 2010 Report Posted October 18, 2010 your picture did not come through but it sound like the parking brake warning lamp which was an option. Quote
StayFrosty Posted October 19, 2010 Author Report Posted October 19, 2010 Picture is fixed. The light is circled in red. Thanks. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted October 19, 2010 Report Posted October 19, 2010 Hi. Welcome. I found this paragraph on a website regarding 49 Plymouth wagons. It probably is the emergency brake warning light. Accessories Electric clock was available for this year. Two styles of radio were available - the Deluxe (model 803, 8 tube, 7 pushbutton Philco) and the model (603, 6 tube, 5 pushbutton Motorola) fits right in with the trim on the dashboard. Both fit the Special Deluxe grille identically. Can have different types of outside rear view mirrors, one with spotlight on front and one without. Turn signals were a factory option in 1949. Heaters - there were 3 models available, models 100, 300 and 550. Some other not so common accessories include the spark plug waterproofing kit (Ever-dry cover kit), and the emergency brake indicator light on the dash. Quote
StayFrosty Posted October 19, 2010 Author Report Posted October 19, 2010 Thanks for your help. I'll have to play with the emergency brake and see what the light does. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted October 19, 2010 Report Posted October 19, 2010 You might try following the wiring back from the light.....it should go to some type of perhaps pressure operated switch on the back side of the E brake. Quote
