Ken_Hart Posted October 29, 2006 Report Posted October 29, 2006 Were all the 48-50 grill bars made from stainless or where the painted ones made from a different material? I am needing the lower two pieces and was wondering if the painted ones were stainless underneath or whether I had to find unpainted versions.. Quote
Reg Evans Posted October 29, 2006 Report Posted October 29, 2006 I'm pretty sure that the painted ones were just steel Ken. Quote
Merle Coggins Posted October 29, 2006 Report Posted October 29, 2006 I concure with Reg. I believe my painted ones are steel. Quote
Ken_Hart Posted October 29, 2006 Author Report Posted October 29, 2006 thanks, how about the piece on the hood, is that available in steel. If so I think I will look for a complete set that I can send to the chrome platers Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted October 30, 2006 Report Posted October 30, 2006 So, what is painted? Guess I don't know whereof you speak. On a P15 46-early 49 Plymouth, all actual grille bars are stainless. The piece behind them onto which they mount, is painted to match the car. Sincerely, Mr Dummy. Quote
Ken_Hart Posted October 30, 2006 Author Report Posted October 30, 2006 Bob, on the 48-50 dodge trucks, some of the trucks I have seen have the three grill bars painted and some with stainless. Quote
Guest James Crabtree Posted October 30, 2006 Report Posted October 30, 2006 All of the hood pieces that I have seen have been stainless, even on trucks with painted steel grill bars Quote
Steven Hood Posted October 30, 2006 Report Posted October 30, 2006 The nose piece on the hood is always stainless. Quote
townwagon Posted October 31, 2006 Report Posted October 31, 2006 And all of the upper bars on the hood are stainless. I think if you want the chrome look get a set of stainless bars, that would most likely be cheaper then having steel ones chromed. Eric Quote
Bouncy B Posted April 18, 2007 Report Posted April 18, 2007 1948 and 1949 were all stainless. I have seen 1950 models that were both, although most people say 1950 was painted body color with cream or white pinstripe that goes from side to side but not on the center piece that protrudes. Painted pieces are steel, not stainless. Hood piece is always stainless. Hope it helps. Quote
