tom'sB2B Posted September 20, 2010 Report Posted September 20, 2010 Hi all I have the ability to get my hands on a 52 desoto rear end. I'm wondering if it will swap into my 50 B2B. I'm wondering what I need to look for when finding a match...spline count, ect. Does the car need to be a 6 cylinder? thanks for any help Tom Quote
Tony_Urwin Posted September 20, 2010 Report Posted September 20, 2010 I just put a 10-spline 3.73 differential in my B-1-C. I bought it from George Asche for $50, he told me it was from a DeSoto. Quote
grey beard Posted September 20, 2010 Report Posted September 20, 2010 The Desotp third membert will bolt into your truck axle housinhg. Be suire to keep the axles and pinion yoke from the Desoto. You will likely need both. I just completed a similar swap from a '48 Windsor - a 3:73. I had to use both the Windsor axles to match the side gears and the yoke. There are two different size U joints used on our trucks. The larger of the two uses the cross locks that bolt onto the outside of the yoke. Both sizes are available from CarQuest and NAPA - about $18 last time I bought one. Good Luck. You'll enjoy the longer rear gear ratio. Now I'm looking for a good speedo adaptor to increase the indicated sped about 20 percent, based on GPS readings. Any suggestions? Thanks Quote
1950dodge Posted September 21, 2010 Report Posted September 21, 2010 I have a 50 B2B also, the 4.10 gears are a little much! Keep me posted on the swap, I would like to change gears also. Quote
