austinsailor Posted August 31, 2010 Report Posted August 31, 2010 where would I tell someone to look? it's not near me and I want to run the numbers through DMV before making the trip to make sure it's clean. thanks for any help. Quote
greg g Posted August 31, 2010 Report Posted August 31, 2010 it is likely that the serial number is probably located on one of the "A" pillars in a location similar to the P15. If the number on the documnets strts with and "S" it is likely the engine number. Quote
austinsailor Posted August 31, 2010 Author Report Posted August 31, 2010 There are no documents. A fellow bought a piece of property and it was in a barn. He's not familiar with it, and I'd like to run the numbers before going to see it and try to a any registration history on it. I was hoping to get him enough information that he can get a vin (and hopefully not the body code or some other nearly useless number) and I could have someone at the dmv do a search. By '55 I don't think they were using engine numbers. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted September 1, 2010 Report Posted September 1, 2010 (edited) In this picture of a desoto for sale, there appears to be a tag on the driver's door frame..... And on a 56 model. Edited September 1, 2010 by BobT-47P15 Quote
