I was stripping my dash so it can be blasted and painted, and when I went to remove the bottom chrome piece of trim from the glovebox lid all the studs just broke right off:( do any of you fine folks know how it may be repaired? or how hard a replacement will be to find? also, the side chrome appears to be riveted in place. is there a way to remove them for painting and such without damaging them?

I was thinking the jb weld might work. just trying to keep the studs aligned will be a bit tricky. the double sticky tape prob not so good. not a lot of surface on the backside of the trim, its kinda like a u-channel. guess I can try the jb and see what happens.:)

You can eventually find another complete door on ebay, or maybe from

someone in the parts for sale section of this forum. but, then you

still have the same problem about getting the trim off successfully.

I think the long pieces are held on with those springy "speed nuts",

but that little end piece is a problem. I just glued my left end piece

back on.........

The studs broke off the 'Cranbrook' nameplates on my car years ago, and I used 3M side-molding tape to reattach them. Has held fine for many years, and should work for your dash trim as well.
