47heaven Posted March 6, 2007 Report Posted March 6, 2007 Hey guys...real quick here...where can I get two sets of bumper bolts for the front and back bumper on my car? Mine are trashed and some even had to cut out. Are they only being sold on Ebay or can they be purchased direct? Also, the guy that sells them on Ebay usually asks for about $50 "buy it now" for a set. Is that the going price for a set or can new ones be purchased cheaper? Quote
Dennis Hemingway Posted March 6, 2007 Report Posted March 6, 2007 You can try here, someone on the old forum posted this site. Dennis http://www.thecliplink.com/bumper_bolts.htm Quote
Norm's Coupe Posted March 6, 2007 Report Posted March 6, 2007 You can buy the oval head bumper bolts from any old Ford parts vendor. They are the same that fits the 48 Ford bumpers. The short bolts run about $6 or $8 each. Quote
bob westphal Posted March 6, 2007 Report Posted March 6, 2007 You can also buy bumper bolts at some parts stores and all body shop/auto paint stores sell them. Quote
Lou Earle Posted March 6, 2007 Report Posted March 6, 2007 I solved thsi problem year ago by buying about 20 stainless steel carrioage bolts from my local hardware store. I bet youcna find then with a search on google Quote
Norm's Coupe Posted March 6, 2007 Report Posted March 6, 2007 You guys are right. You can buy the bumper bolts just about anywhere. The problem I had though was that you could not buy the Oval Head bumper bolts in the stores. Found lots of round head just about anywhere. If Darin wants to keep his car looking original, he needs the Oval Head bolts. I don't care for keeping everything original myself. However, I wanted the Oval Head bolts simply because I think they look better, not because they were original. Has anyone found the Oval Head bolts in the stores? Quote

I am trying to stay as original as possible, but some exceptions can be made. Especially, when it comes to saving money. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted March 7, 2007 Report Posted March 7, 2007 When I had my rear bumper re-chromed, the guy said to remove the stainless "cap" from the bolt head, and then he chromed the actual head. Looks just fine. Quote
mikemaker Posted March 7, 2007 Report Posted March 7, 2007 I don't think you would be happy with the round head bumper bolts, the oval heads really do look correct and round heads just don't look quite right right. I used round headed bumper bolds on the rear of my bizzy coupe, but they bugged me so I pulled some correct ones off of a junker from a junk yard. Quote
RobertKB Posted March 8, 2007 Report Posted March 8, 2007 Neil Riddle sells them reasonably. He goes by seaplym on ebay. Quote
