I recently installed a new 6 volt + ground voltage regulator in my 1948 p-15 in hopes of correcting a no charge situation but found that nothing changed so I put the old one back on and had the same reading at the ammeter .....-dis, charge just to the left of center,no charge with increased engine speed and even more - when stepping on the brake pedal or turning on the lights, I thought it might be the generator so I shut the car off removed the armature and field connections from the generator and started the car back up and had the same exact reading as with it connected.......does this indicate a bad generator ? I'm thinking so but I don't know for sure......any help would be greatly appreciated !

Lots of discussion use the search function on then general discussion part of the list.

also look up polorizing the genny. There is also discussion of a simple test to check the genny out put.

with the battery in and the ign switch off is the gauge centered? Which way does it move if you switch on the lights?

I'm not sure what happens when the ign is off......I'll have to check that.

Thanks

Mike
