Niel Hoback Posted June 29, 2010 Report Posted June 29, 2010 Someone a short time ago was looking for Fulton sun visor parts. I don't have any, but they look very easy to make. The center supports are simple flat stock bent to fit with standard hardware used to clamp them together. The authentic hardware is kind of fancy shoulder bolts and countersunk heads. If you aren't that particular, you could do a good job on your own. Sorry about the delay. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted June 29, 2010 Report Posted June 29, 2010 Looks good Niel. Did you have the Fulton pieces and made the other parts? Quote
Niel Hoback Posted June 29, 2010 Author Report Posted June 29, 2010 No, I was very fortunate to get a complete visor. I even removed it from a P-15 myself. Quote
Niel Hoback Posted June 29, 2010 Author Report Posted June 29, 2010 Come to think of it, if someone needs measurments, I could easily remove the center braces and disassemble them for measurements. Quote
Uncle-Pekka Posted June 29, 2010 Report Posted June 29, 2010 Fulton visor is aluminium sheet, pressed to shape in a die. Way over common man's skills. What would be possible, is to make a copy in glass fibre by laminating with resin. A fellow sells remanufactored center clamps in eBay,her's a link: http://cgi.ebay.ca/Fulton-Sunvisor-Center-Pinch-Clip-clamp-New_W0QQitemZ300437477128QQihZ020QQcategoryZ42606QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp4340.m444QQ_trkparmsZalgo%3DCRX%26its%3DC%252BS%26itu%3DSI%252BUA%252BLM%252BLA%26otn%3D5%26ps%3D63%26clkid%3D7471849123264153580#ht_500wt_948 The side supports as in the 1st photo by Neil are stainless steel pressed parts. Quite fancy and hard to reproduce. Those show up in eBay time to time. Saved from crashed visors, I would guess... Quote
Niel Hoback Posted June 29, 2010 Author Report Posted June 29, 2010 The side brackets on mine are aluminum, I removed the paint and buffed them just for the fun of it to make them shiney. The little logo button is indeed stainless, but no one would paint that anyway. Also, the underside is painted a dull green to minimize glare and reflection. I figured that out right after I painted it to match the car. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted June 29, 2010 Report Posted June 29, 2010 Yeah......you'd think they would paint that underside nice and pretty to match the car. But..........now you know why the dull green. I believe that comes under the heading of "live and learn". Quote
Andydodge Posted June 29, 2010 Report Posted June 29, 2010 I left mine painted in the flat grey primer underneath as it matched the roof lining when you lokked from inside the car.......the centre bracket is made from sheet stainless.........its the "extra heavy duty nascar part".............lol..............andyd Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted June 30, 2010 Report Posted June 30, 2010 Back in the 1970s, when I would buy an old car with the outside sun visor, first thing I did was remove it......didn't like them. Sold them at swap meets for probably $15 to $25 each. Some were Fultons. Now, if I got one, I'd probably leave it for the nostalgia factor. Kind of like the swamp cooler I had years ago.....sold it. Bought another one from a customer at work a year or so ago. Of course it's not as nice as the one owned in the past. Has some dents and the paint isn't real great. Can be fixed up however. Will probably use it on the coupe. Quote

You know, Agape Auto is making new sun visors that look like the Fulton. http://agapeautoparts.com/products/products.htm Maybe they would sell you the side brackets and center braces. Quote
