55 Fargo Posted June 13, 2010 Report Posted June 13, 2010 (edited) Hey all, took the 47 out today, against my gut instinct, ihas been rainin, like we was on the Pacific Northwest. I drove over to the Half-Moon restaurant, in Lockport Manitoba, was to meet up witha Guy I know from Winnipeg, and members of his Riff Raff CC, Rockabilly folks. Well only a few showed up, and only 1 old car, a 1950 Chebby, which I took a pic of and it did not work for some reason, the others came in 3 ohter modern cars, not sure why. The 1 Guy I know is into Mopar Flatties, but his ride was not ready to go today. Okay backtrack, I arrive about a 1/2 hour before the Rockabillies, parked in the overflow parking lot in the back, over looking the river valley and the Lockport Dam. A few folks immediately made a B line for my car, we started chin wagging a bit, then it started to pour like you wouldn't believe. I went into the Half Moon, it was jam packed, bought a Pepsi, and waited for the rain to slow down. My car has never been in the rain for 5 years, not since I have fixed her up, she did well, with only 1 small leak at the bottom middle of the back window, my weatherstrip job, leaked a bit, the cowl vent seal did not leak, nor did the front window, so nice and dry inside. The Folks I was to meet up with arrived, they took very little interest in my car, and they were not overly friendly with me either, except for the one Guy I know, and he is a decent very friendly guy. I did not stick around, went to Selkirk Manitoba about 5 miles away, down the highway wipers going, defroster going and cruising 60 mph, car ran extemely well. I pulled under the canopy of a Safeway Gas Bar, on Main Street, and waited, then drove home, drove her very slow on my gravel road, then gave the old girl a bath, and washed under undercarriage and wheel wells at home, then put her to bed. Here are some pics, this is the back of the Half Moon, the front side is a very awesome looking place, but I was really not in the mood tho take more pics today, was happy to leave and cruise home...... PatS.... Posted June 13, 2010 Report Posted June 13, 2010 Gee, Fred...too bad the RiffRaff were Ahole$ to ya, and you wasted that time and took the car out in that monsoon needlesly. Although, to me, an afternoon in the old car is worth it no matter what. Maybe one of 'em will visit you at work Quote
T120 Posted June 13, 2010 Report Posted June 13, 2010 ...and on the positive side, your car stood up well in the rain, save for that one small leak that I'm sure will receive immediate attention.I've had my old Dodge out in the rain.Heck, my newer vehicles are outside in the weather all the time.I guess we're hoping to preserve a bit of the past for future generations -who may or may not appreciate our efforts Quote

55 Fargo Posted June 13, 2010 Author Report Posted June 13, 2010 Hi Shel the window garnish is on, will check and see if it is secure all the way around. But I would have thought the seal should be good on the outside, but who knows. The Riff Raff CC, not putting them down, the members that were there yesterday, with the exception of the one I know, were not over friendly, and did not seem very interested in my car.... Quote
P-12 Tommy Posted June 13, 2010 Report Posted June 13, 2010 Well Fred, At least you found out the good and the bad and that it holds up pretty good in the rain. My back window also seeps in the middle at the seam. Gotta change mine one of these days. Tom Quote
