oldmrham Posted June 5, 2010 Report Posted June 5, 2010 Got my Lubriplate water pump grease yesterday and a new grease gun Anyone know how and strokes to grease the water pump? Quote
JBNeal Posted June 5, 2010 Report Posted June 5, 2010 Yep, one shot oughtta take care of it...I put one shot in slowly while the motor is at idle so the grease will coat the shaft+bushing evenly. Quote
Don Coatney Posted June 5, 2010 Report Posted June 5, 2010 If you give many pumps you will blow out the front seal and render the water pump useless. Quote
Powerhouse Posted June 7, 2010 Report Posted June 7, 2010 BE CAREFUL if greasing it while engine is running! That sounds really dangerous... I just do mine while its off. Quote
48mirage Posted June 7, 2010 Report Posted June 7, 2010 A trick I learned was to take the zerk out and fill a large syringe with the grease and then inject it where the zerk was. That way you fill the cavity but don't put so much pressure as to blow the seal. I have done this with rear wheel bearing also. Fills the void but doesn't blow the seals. Quote
