steveplym Posted May 31, 2010 Report Posted May 31, 2010 I'm heading there next weekend June 12th. Gonna take the car over to the Nut Club cruise. Should be about 200-300 cars there. Wondered if there were any forum members who live close? I remember seeing one or two P-15's there last year. Quote
steveplym Posted June 12, 2010 Author Report Posted June 12, 2010 Leaving tomorrow morning for the annual Nut Club cruise. Guess no one else on the forum is heading there. Hoped to meet a few people. Oh well, I'll enjoy seeing a lot of this tomorrow. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted June 12, 2010 Report Posted June 12, 2010 Nut Club, does membership require a doctor's written certificate? For the asking does Evansville have any museum or hall of fame for the old Plymouth plant that used to be there? Three of my cars are Evansville made units... Quote
steveplym Posted June 12, 2010 Author Report Posted June 12, 2010 I don't think they have a museum Tim. I know my car was built there as well. Would be interesting to speak with someone who worked at that plant. The west side nut club is a funny name. They do a lot of stuff for charity on the west side of Evansville. Check out their website. http://www.nutclub.org Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted June 12, 2010 Report Posted June 12, 2010 I was born in Evansville, but I don't think that has anything to do with the current car show. Maybe some possible relation to the name "nuts". My father worked at Republic Aviation there during the war, building the P47 Thunderbolt fighter plane, also called "The Jug". During his time there the President of the country came for visit, and Dad was selected to present him with a model of the air craft. His picture, along with others who presented various items, was in the Evansville paper. I still have a small cast metal model of the plane - on the base is a label noting it's a memento of the visit by the President. My sister went to Evansville a few years ago and located the two different houses our family lived in during their stay. She took pictures and gave me framed copies......and the houses had been kept in good repair over the years. They moved back to Missouri after his job ended. Link to a wikipedia article on that plane......http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/P-47_Thunderbolt Quote
