Edward Roberts Posted May 25, 2010 Report Posted May 25, 2010 My '46 p15 had been converted to 12-volt by the PO and I am going through replacing some wiring and grounding things properly. I feel that I might want to revert the car back to 6-volt one day - or at least would like to leave that option open. Is there a problem with running wire sufficient for 6-volts on a 12-volt system? What gauge should I use? And I'm speaking of lights, sending unit, etc. 10-gauge? Quote
greg g Posted May 25, 2010 Report Posted May 25, 2010 12v works just fine on 6 v wire but not visa versa. To be safe heavy load 10ga, mediium load 12 gauge, and light load 14. Most 12 V stuff starts with 16 and goes smaller, Saves a lot of weight and money, most likely the primary reasons for the change. Quote
Edward Roberts Posted May 25, 2010 Author Report Posted May 25, 2010 Thanks, Greg. I hate doing things twice... and wouldn't want anyone else having to do so behind me. Quote
