I know this came up before, but I re-read that thread and it didn't answer my question, so...

Can a door with a single roll up window be converted to accept my vent window setup? I would have to assume that the door shells are the same. (but you know what they say when you assume ;) ) If the doors are the same, then my windows would work. Can anyone confirm this?

I've been asking the same question for awhile now. I have single pane doors on my truck, but 2 really solid vent pane doors from CA. From what I see-there is going to be some hardware swapping and maybe some fabrication too. The reason that I have started on the doors yet is I don't want to remove the hardware from the doors on the truck until I know how much work has to be done.

I am doing this to my truck also. It appears that the one piece windows will work in the vent window doors if the parts from the single window doors are used and the interior tabs for the vent windows are removed. I have yet do complete the swap though.

I think you just answered my question, in a round about way, Dale.

I was going to do the oposite of what you are doing. I have a line on a door with the single window, but I would like to keep my vent windows. I was going to go look at it tonight, but you may have saved me a trip.

I assume that these are the Tabs that you were refering to?

Now for another question. Does anyone know if these tabs are there in a single window door, but just not bent up into place? If that's the case it may still work for me. If not, I have nothing to attach my vent window to, so I'll have to pass on this door.

Or I'd have to fab up some tabs and weld them in.

Thanks,

I don't think there would be to much trouble to convert the window set up as long as you have the vent assembly and the roll up assembly with tracks. Like the picture shows you would only need to weld in some tabs to hold the bottom of the vent window in place. It would be even easier to install power windows now after you mount the vent window. You just have to order that pricey vent window rubber!

Merle, Looks like fabricating and welding those tabs would not be to hard. I can't remember if they are taped, but I think so? Because they are flat they could even be a thicker gauge. As far as the deluxe door accepting the full window, you would need to remove the tabs and install front window guides I guess. To tell the truth I like the doors without vents better, feels good to me when the window is down not to have the vent post there. Good Luck. Dutch
