jd52cranbrook Posted April 22, 2010 Report Posted April 22, 2010 (edited) It has been awhile since I updated the other thread, and it was getting long. So I thought I would start a new one for my Parking brake change. Note I now have about 2,000 miles on the new T-5 and I could not be happier with it. It gives me so much more control at any speed. No freewheeling, engine is always in the most important "power range" RPM that these engines have, Anyway to review. Now that the T-5 is in I have no parking brake for the car. So I purchased this go kart disk brake set up. I had to make some changes for it to fit and I was not happy with the results. It did not fit in the "cup" of the rear end, plus would not center the driveline. Soooo, I had a buddy who has a 47 and 50 Plymouth locally, and a great shop to play in, fab up a new disc from a chunk of aluminum. Curt did great work. So now the disc and driveline are centered as before, and no worries of wobble or vibration. If I ever have the car sitting still long enough I will start working on the bracket for the caliper. But this weekend the weather is good and the car will be at Dream Machines in Half Moon Bay, CA Dream Machines This is a awesome event, everything from air planes to scooters, to old washing machines... LAKOTA169 Posted April 22, 2010 Report Posted April 22, 2010 Paul Curtice is installing a 5 speed in his '35 sedan (might be in by now). when we had our club meeting at his house a couple of weeks ago, he showed me his set up for the brake. Very sililar to what you have. Another member fabbed up the bracket for the caliper. None of it was mounted on the car yet, so i don't know how it's working. Quote

jd52cranbrook Posted April 22, 2010 Author Report Posted April 22, 2010 Yes I think several have done it this way. Paul did send me some pics to go over. The only way I can think of is to fab something like a tri pod off the differential bolts. Then after I get it mocked up, drive to a welder and get the "fingers or the tri pod", for lack of a better name, all reinforced with cross braces. Here are some, Although mine will be a manual set up, I do like this bracket on this hydraulic one another way Still not sure what way to go as yet. I need to lay under the car and meditate,,,,,,,,,,,, Quote
