Somewhat. there are 1949 P15s. I've heard it was because of chrysler having to fulfill ww2 contracts for the military not because they were having issues

Gosh, Ed, you may be right, but for some reason I think the reason was retooling and worker contract issues...I have an article from a WPC magazine that gives the specific reason, but that issue is not at hand at the moment to refer to. Currently I'm on a few hours of sleep and sudaphed, so take my ramblings with a grain of salt...:P

Retooling is correct Adam ..... the 1949 2nd series was pretty much a completely new design ... at least in the sheet metal world. The engine and transmission were pretty much identical but pretty much everything else was "new". So, P15 production continued into March 1949 I believe ... about that time anyway. Those cars are considered 1949 1st series cars. They are still P15 models. Then the 1949 2nd series cars starting rolling off the production line is late March 1949 I believe....plus a minus a week or two.

So.....it has a "Deluxe" steering wheel, but the Spec Deluxe chrome

radio grille. Wonder which it really is. Or, at this point does it really

matter?

Looks like its a deluxe. It doesn't have the plymouth badge on the top of the dash either. If you ordered a radio in your deluxe you got upgraded to the special deluxe center section. Looks like the ignition/heater control panel is painted instead of chrome too. Another deluxe item.
