tenn.jerry Posted April 9, 2010 Report Posted April 9, 2010 iwent to get a new fuel pump for my 1950 b 2 c . the guy at napa could not find it. he showed what it should look like, but mine is not like a regular fuel pump.the fuel pumps he showed me on his computer had the pump arm coming out the bottom and pushing up to pump. mine has the arm coming out the top and pushing down to pump. the one he showed had a glass bowl offset from the pump. mine has the bowl on the bottom half with gas lines going in on one side and out on the other. we looked in his books and found what looked like mine. itfits a 1953 plymouth cambridge. i checked my id number on the engine it is t172 9901 i couldnt get the last 2 numbers anybody ever had this problem? i couldnt get it at napa but advance has it for around 120 dollars. what can i do? give me your thoughts, Quote
austinsailor Posted April 10, 2010 Report Posted April 10, 2010 Bernbaum has it for $79. That is where I got mine and I thought that was high. Quote
Merle Coggins Posted April 10, 2010 Report Posted April 10, 2010 It sounds like you've got the wrong pump on your truck. It should look like this. That one I got from Bernbaum back when I rebuild my engine. The pin recently cam out and it quit pumping. I had to put my original, rebuild, pump back in. When I originally got it it was straight. I had to remove the top and re-index it to match my original. Check with Rock Auto. They show Airtex and Carter pumps for around $56. Merle Quote

HanksB3B Posted April 10, 2010 Report Posted April 10, 2010 Has anyone that has experienced the pin dropping out of the fuel pump taken photos or explained in detail what was done to repair them. I have a spare fuel pump and would like to buy a rebuild kit. Are some kits better made than others? Any recommendations? Thanks, Hank Quote
