james49ply Posted March 8, 2010 Report Share Posted March 8, 2010 anyone replace just the brake drums without replacing the hubs? looking to do that to my P15. would rather replace just the drums so they can be removed without pulling the hubs. easier to check them, and get the brake dust out so they don't squeal. little48 Posted March 13, 2010 Report Share Posted March 13, 2010 I don't realy get what your asking The hubs don't seperate from the drum.I think to get what you want you will have to go with another rearend.I could be wrong with this because I am new to this old of a car :confused:hope sombody can give you more help. Plymouthy Adams Posted March 13, 2010 Report Share Posted March 13, 2010 the drums are riveted to the hubs and yes can be removed..but to make them just slip on is not a good idea..these hubs are not like modern rear axles where the hub is concentric by design...run out is a problem...unlike disc application where this is done (and probably where you got the idea) practical with the disc due to the fact the pads are pinching the surface, not pushing them outward and front to rear run out will not be felt..on disc lateral is felt when it exceeds .008....your shoes will be subject to drag and your braking action is likely to pusate to no end...
