thrashingcows Posted February 13, 2010 Author Report Posted February 13, 2010 I spoke with the glass shop down the street and they say they can cut me the glass no problem. Now I asked what they charge...he said $15 square foot for the glass. Now I'm trying to figure out how many square feet the front windshield, vents, door, and quarter glass will generate. Anyone have an idea? Quote

LuckyDevil Posted February 14, 2010 Report Posted February 14, 2010 Also ask if that includes him beveling the edges. Wouldn't want to slice your elbow on the first cruise cuz of a sharp edge on your window glass. Quote
thrashingcows Posted February 14, 2010 Author Report Posted February 14, 2010 12 to 14 square feet, X $15.00 = $180 to $210, plus tint and taxes Thanks for the info. That's not a bad price. Also ask if that includes him beveling the edges. Wouldn't want to slice your elbow on the first cruise cuz of a sharp edge on your window glass. I just assumed it would be included in the price. Will have to ask about that as well. Quote
thrashingcows Posted February 22, 2010 Author Report Posted February 22, 2010 Well my new motor and tranny are home!!! A buddy and me left this morning at 6:30am and drove the 4 hours one way to arrive at the guys house to pick up the motor, tranny and stuff. Had a nice chat with the guy, go to look at their cars, a 41 dodge convertible (restored to original), 31 Model A (restored to original), 47 Plymouth (now hot rodded), and a early 70's Lincoln Continental 2dr with only 9000 original miles!! Loaded up the motor and tranny, stopped for some lunch and was back home by 3:30pm. But the tranny in my friends truck didn't do so well. 97 dodge ram Ext. cab, 4x4, 360/auto. By the time we got back home he had no 3rd gear or OD!! Quote
thrashingcows Posted February 22, 2010 Author Report Posted February 22, 2010 Here are a few pics... Home and un-strapping the motor. Motor on hoist. Didn't think that the oil bath air cleaner would blow out fluid from all the air being driven down the aircleaner, carb and intake. Made a bit of a mess but shouldn't have hurt anything. Quote
thrashingcows Posted February 22, 2010 Author Report Posted February 22, 2010 Took a couple of the dual exhaust modification. They modified and welded the manifold up themselves, it may not be perfect but they had been running it in the car with no problems. Quote
thrashingcows Posted February 22, 2010 Author Report Posted February 22, 2010 Pic of the original manual 3 speed next to one of my 833OD trannies. The guy also included a nice uncracked set of intake and exhaust manifolds. He also found a set of gaskets for the old flathead as well. So now I wait for Fernando to arrive home so I can get to work on him. Quote
