1940plymouth Posted January 7, 2010 Report Posted January 7, 2010 My son has a '68 Chevy one ton daulie, 292 with four speed with a very low geared rearend. He took the rear out the other night to see if he could figure out just what the gearing is. Is this photo good enough to get an idea for you guys that may be familiar with the Chevy trucks? He would like to update the rearend to make it more of a "Driver" Sorry for the off topic, and thanks for any replies, Bob Quote
james curl Posted January 7, 2010 Report Posted January 7, 2010 Just count the number of teeth on both gears then divide the smaller into the larger for the ratio. Quote
Young Ed Posted January 7, 2010 Report Posted January 7, 2010 On the mopar rearends the ratio is stamped on the edge of the ring gear. I'd wipe that off carefully and take a look all the way around it. Quote
