bkahler Posted February 10, 2007 Report Posted February 10, 2007 My 51 B3B came with the deluxe heater package along with the fresh air intake system. One thing that was missing was the shut off valve that goes on the back corner of the head. Cruising through MMOPARs offerings I ran across a shutoff valve that he lists for 49-52 dodge, plymouth and desoto cars. Well checking the part number listed and the picture with the B series factory parts manual it turns out that same valve is the one used in the B series trucks as well. This valve allows you to turn off the water flow to the heater from inside the cab. If your truck is missing this valve here's your chance to pick one up. He had 7 available (6 now!) at $56 plus $6 shipping. Here is the auction number if you're interested. 140083438312 Brad Quote

Merle Coggins Posted February 10, 2007 Report Posted February 10, 2007 ... and then there were 5. Thanks for the tip. This one should be more controlable than what I have. Merle Quote
Norm's Coupe Posted February 10, 2007 Report Posted February 10, 2007 I had a valve like Merle pictured on my P15. It was frozen in the open position so could not even use it under the hood. I picked this inline valve up from the local auto parts store (Bumper to Bumper) for around $20. This valve also works off the dash knob controls. For more information on the installation go to this link at the bottom of the page. http://www.indfloorcoating-repair.com/1948plymouthenginerestoration.html Merle, if you want to see it in person, just let know. You can see it almost anytime the temperature is above 10 degrees. Quote
Merle Coggins Posted February 10, 2007 Report Posted February 10, 2007 Too late now Norm. Since I got this one coming from the ebay deal I'll use it. I'll have to add in a cable for it. The heater in my truck is an aftermarket unit and the only control is for the fan. I think that shut off valve is stuck too. Right now I have a hose connected between it and the water pump connection. Come spring we'll have to get together again so I can check out your Plymouth. Merle Quote
Norm's Coupe Posted February 10, 2007 Report Posted February 10, 2007 When I first got my coupe going I would roast in the car during the summer months because I couldn't shut off the water to the heater. I have a separate control on the dash for the heater fan. That would always be off. With that hot water coming through, just the forced air through would heat up the car with the fan off. Now, it's nice and cool in there. At this point though, I want our December and January weather back! Would be nice to see a few 40's and 50's again. Quote

Merle Glad I could help Merle, I have several of the valves like you have on your engine. I had planned on doing something like Norm did until I found the correct valve on ebay. Brad Quote
