tankwilson Posted November 25, 2009 Report Posted November 25, 2009 Ok guys. Heres the 6 million dollar question. What is the best sound/heat instulation to use. I have read over on the HAMB and i am even more confused than i was to start out with. I have a 49 plymouth with no interior expect for a seat. I am planning on taking a long trip this next fall to the Grand Canyon via route 66. Don't plan on having the interior done but would like to start putting down something to cut down on the heat and sound. My car is so noisy now i can't even talk on the phone. What works? What doesn't? Dynamat and Hushmat worth it? Thanks matt Quote
michael.warshaw Posted November 25, 2009 Report Posted November 25, 2009 i think alot of people use dyno mat Quote
Robert Horne Posted November 25, 2009 Report Posted November 25, 2009 I used a lot of material from modern cars that I have junked. Quote
chopt50wgn Posted November 25, 2009 Report Posted November 25, 2009 The Dynamats and Hushmats work well. I have hushmat in my wagon ,on the roof and ceiling. The oil can noise has been reduced greatly. When the interior is ready to go in I will also do the floors and inside the doors. The stuff isn't cheap , but jute backed insulation can still absorb moisture like a sponge and then rust the floors. Quote
albolton Posted November 25, 2009 Report Posted November 25, 2009 look up Flexclad 400..it is an industrial adhesive backed duct insulation that is way cheaper than Dynamat....and works great...very flexible easy to work with Quote
Paul Hoffmeyer Posted November 26, 2009 Report Posted November 26, 2009 Matt; I used E-Z Cool in my '45 Dodge pickup cab. Very easy to work with and about 10% of the price of some of the more popular brands. I do not have mine on the road yet, but may by the end of the year. Here is their website: <http://www.lobucrod.com> Paul H 1 Quote
