I don't know about P18s but according to the parts book Chet has on his site (1936-1948) the lower control arm bumper used from 1939 to 1948 was part number 1124470. Both Collector's Auto Supply (http://www.collectorsautosupply.com/) and Valley Vintage Auto Supply (http://www.vvap.com/) indicate that they have that part. Do you have a part number for the P18? Is it the same? If not, you may want to check those two suppliers using the correct part number.

I got both upper and lower rebound rubber stops for my 1941 P11 from Andy Bernbaum about 18mths ago, the uppers have a steel piece that enables them to fit on the upper A arm stock pin and the lowers have a bolt to allow them to bolt onto the lower A arm.......trust this helps, andyd

47heaven - Yes they are the cone shaped ones.

Andydodge - From your description, I think they are the same.

Jim Yergin - Thanks for the info. I will check into the sites you have suggested.

I guess I can drive the car with it missing, with out any problem, while I look for the stops. One thing I really need to look out for is the topees (speed bumps) they have down here. Every Mexican town has more topees than you can imagine. People do not slow down on there own, there is no penalty for a ticket other than paying the thing or bribing the cop.

I need them also for my '47 Desoto. I was wondering the wisdom of getting NOS rubber for this particular part. Bernbaum seems to be the only one who offers them new. Was it on this site a few weeks (months?) back that somebody told me that the Bernbaum version did not have the metal plate which the rubber was vulcanized onto but merely just a bolt inserted into the rubber? They advised you had to be careful not to tighten too much for fear the bolt would pull out.

I just sent my upper bumpers to Steele for re-vulcanization. They don't offer the lowers, however they do have a Packard bumper I believe with the same dimensions. But it connected with a clip instead of a bolt. I was toying with the idea of seeing if a bolt could be drilled and inserted with epoxy or something into the Packard bumper. I guess Bernbaums would be okay, its just the quaily of the rubber I'm concerned about. But for that particular part maybe Bernbaums would work fine.

Bingster, that was me regarding the lack of the plate in the lower rebound rubber............the Bernbaum upper and lower pieces are brand new rubber, definately not NOS.....the lower piece without the plate but just a bolt was the piece that I was a little concerned about but its still there, just don't tighten the nut underneath to 100ftlbs...........lol...........andyd
