Rollie Posted November 5, 2009 Report Posted November 5, 2009 From my experience on torsion bars, they're usually good unless they break. Or if they are worn the car would sag. How does your ride height compare to factory specs? I guess if it was sagging someone could have cranked the ride height up to mask worn torsion bars. Also some cars would rust in the rear torsion bar socket, but I've never experienced that. Worth checking though. Lower control arm bushings were always the first thing that would mess up my ride. I've also have had A-body K-frames break in the lower control arm mounting area since the lower control arm bolt tube was poorly welded from the factory. That will make a nice clunk and a poor ride. Other things to check: upper control arm bushings, upper ball joints, lower ball joints, pitman arm, idler arm, inner and outer tie rod ends. Quote
radioguy7 Posted November 5, 2009 Author Report Posted November 5, 2009 The shocks look pretty recent since the hardware looks newer and not all rusted, rubber looks good on them too. Rollie, I think someone did crank up the ride height on it, this car should not be reacting this way to bumps in the road. I have stopped driving the car since I've developed shakes and rattles in the dash from taking hard hits. Kind of bummed right now, why can't people be honest in this world??? I have the guys number still I traded with. I'm almost ready to ask for my P-15 back and have him take his car back. His description of the car as "needs nothing" is far from it. Funny thing tho is that it seems like the ride has gotten worse in the past weeks of driving it. I'm all new to this stuff, always been a GM man myself in the past. Quote
