Look under the knob I think there might be a little set screw that holds the knob onto the shaft for each switch.

I know on my 39 DeSoto there is a spring clips that has to be pulled back towards the front onthe know and then you can pull the know off the switch.

i do know that onmy 39 Desoto the choke know does not come off it is glued to the cable.

I hope this helps. MAybe some of the guys that have your car can supply you with more info.

It literally varies by the knob in question. Some have a setscrew in the bottom, one or two have a spring steel clip that you push down, slide on and then release, and several are molded on the cable end and can't be removed at all. Which one(s) are you asking about?

Headlight knob has the spring clip, you can release it with a small screwdriver, thru

a slot in bottom of the knob. To remove entire headlight switch from dash, need to

disconnect wires on back of switch (mark carefully), then turn the chrome collar on

the front side of the dash. Have to be careful not to scratch it up.

I think the choke knob is moulded onto the end of the cable.....have to undo a nut

on back side of the dash, then slide out the entire cable. Obviously, it needs to be

detached from the carb.

SAme deal for the throttle cable.

That leaves the heater fan switch, the defroster knob and the heat knob....or some

part of those down in the chrome unit below the dash. I think one of those has a set

screw on bottom of knob, then screws off the cable.

Hope that helps some.
