1940plymouth Posted August 21, 2009 Report Posted August 21, 2009 My wife got groceries yesterday morning so Cooper and I decided to go for a ride in the Plymouth, here are some photos. Just past where these photos were taken the road becomes narrower and stone and chipped with a rather steep decent, I shifting into second and the old girl acted flawlessly:) Quote
55 Fargo Posted August 21, 2009 Report Posted August 21, 2009 How you doing 40 Plymouth, looks like a great place to drive. Is that the car your Son painted, looks good, glad to see you posting on here.......Fred Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted August 21, 2009 Report Posted August 21, 2009 Sure is a pretty, woodsy, setting. Car looks good, too. Quote
1940plymouth Posted August 21, 2009 Author Report Posted August 21, 2009 Yes, he painted it in 2000 using Rustoleum Teal. it was one of his first paint jobs, it has held up rather well, but is beginning to show wear. I will keep it that way until she really needs another paint job as I am pleased that the car was one of his first attempts at painting. Thanks for the kiind comments, but the old Plymouth looks better at 50 ft or 50 mph, but I am very pleased with her and sure do enjoy driving my "time machine" Quote
RobertKB Posted August 21, 2009 Report Posted August 21, 2009 Those kind of roads are meant to be driven in an old car. The car looks great to me. Quote
Normspeed Posted August 22, 2009 Report Posted August 22, 2009 Glad you're ou there enjoying your car. They do love to be driven. Quote
Rodney Bullock Posted August 22, 2009 Report Posted August 22, 2009 I love the wooded, shaded back roads. Your car fits in perfect. I bet the big trunk came in handy with the shopping. You are very lucky to have such a hansome car. I hope the wife enjoys it the way my wife does. Quote
1940plymouth Posted August 23, 2009 Author Report Posted August 23, 2009 Here is another photo that I took yesterday on one of the back roads here in the Catskill Mountains. The old school house dates back to the 1850's. It is now used as a hunting camp. Notice my co-pilot watching me:) Hope everyone has a good day, Bob Quote
55 Fargo Posted August 23, 2009 Report Posted August 23, 2009 CooL Pic Bob, the property where my house is planted, there used to be a 1 room school house on here from the 1890s to the 1950s........ Quote
1940plymouth Posted September 15, 2009 Author Report Posted September 15, 2009 My Dad came over this morning, ( he is almost 83) and he wanted to go for a ride, I asked him if he minded going in the Plymouth, he smiled and told me not at all, so him, Cooper, our "mini Cooper", and I fired up the old Plymouth, put about 20 miles on this trip. Here are a few of the photos. So far this season I have driven the old Plymouth just over 1700 very pleasurable miles:) Quote
RobertKB Posted September 15, 2009 Report Posted September 15, 2009 So far this season I have driven the old Plymouth just over 1700 very pleasurable miles:) That is the best reason to own an old car, any old car. Just the pure fun of driving a piece of history down some nice older roads on a pleasant day. Fortunately, I have several smaller paved roads nearby that I drive on most days and I am not afraid of the gravel roads either. Quote
