adam_knox Posted August 9, 2009 Report Posted August 9, 2009 Let's talk about brake lights! Specifically, on the 49 models, are the fins running lights and turn signal lights and the lights by the license plates the brake lights? Just curious, I got a super bright rear passenger fin light that is shining a lot brighter than the driver's, and when i tap brakes, it is the license plate red lights that kick in. Is this wired correctly, or should all four light up when the brake pedal is depressed? On a related side note, when idling, tap the brakes, headlights dim (a bit, not alot). The wires back there have never been redone before, but didn't know if the generator at idle should be able to juice all lights or if the dimming is a standard occurrance for you fellow Chrysler drivers (plym and dodge owner's, don't mean to exclude ya', just didn't know if the Chrysler's were different). Thanks gang!~Adam Quote
PatS.... Posted August 9, 2009 Report Posted August 9, 2009 Yes, the lights on the license plate bracket are the brake lights and the others are tail/signal lights. Usually the problems involve poor grounds on these old cars, check the grounds first, check the bulbs to be sure they are 6 volt and the pigtails to be sure they haven't fallen apart. Quote
greg g Posted August 9, 2009 Report Posted August 9, 2009 My head lights dim, when I hit the brakes, must be those three 55W halogen lamps are a bit much..... I have mine wired so both fender lamps and the trunk lamps lights with the brakes, two outer lights are running lights and I have motor cycle signals for blinkers. Quote
