radioguy7 Posted June 24, 2009 Report Posted June 24, 2009 I have a chance to pick up a slightly damaged 2006 Chevy trail blazer at auction with the LL8 inline 6cyl engine in it. Only has 30k on the odemeter. Something heavy fell on the truck and the roof is pancaked. I'm thinking of buying the truck and doing a swap of the engine into my 47 P-15. Has anyone seen this swap done on any vehicle before?? The compactness and high output of this engine is what has me considering it. The engine I bleieve is rated at 297 horse and is very torqy. I've done swaps before so I am used to cutting or lengthening drive shafts, etc... Quote
Don Coatney Posted June 24, 2009 Report Posted June 24, 2009 How did you balance the driveshafts you have cut and made longer? What is the length of this engine? Quote
radioguy7 Posted June 24, 2009 Author Report Posted June 24, 2009 How did you balance the driveshafts you have cut and made longer? What is the length of this engine? We have a company here in Ct that will cut, reweld, and rebalance your drive shaft. This is who I have used in the past, just give them the length and forget about it!! Not sure of the length yet, havent had access to the actual truck yet. I know of someone with a trailblazer tho with the same engine in it. I'm going to see if I can get together with him to take some measurements. As far as mounts I would just make an adapter plate to bolt to the block to move the mounting point forward or aft. I'm not too concerned with space tho under the hood of the plymouth, gads more room than under the hood of a trailblazer!! Quote
falconvan Posted June 24, 2009 Report Posted June 24, 2009 I think that would make a great cruiser; very unusual swap that will get a lot of attention. Quote
wayfarer Posted June 24, 2009 Report Posted June 24, 2009 What is your plan for all of the electronics?? Is the shivvy a COP style ignition? . Quote
radioguy7 Posted June 25, 2009 Author Report Posted June 25, 2009 I plan on removing the harness and computer from the Chevy and installing it as it was including the 12 volt system?? NOt sure about changing all of the gauges over or how to aproach that yet. I still need to win the truck at auction!! Years ago I did a engine swap in an S-10 pick up. I took the engine and drive train out of an 1986 IROC Camaro and stuffed it into a 1984 S-10 truck. Pretty much did a straight swap of the harness and computer. I even transplanted the posi carrier as well. When I was done it was basically a Camaro with an S-10 body. Was waaay more than fast, still surprised I didn't kill myself with it, I was 22. Quote
