Or go to Search link above and type in Horn Button. There are several threads on the subject. Truck buttons are different than car buttons so follow the Pilothouse threads.

As I recall, you have to push in and turn clockwise. But it may be difficult to turn if it's been on there for a while, and it probably has been. ;)

I struggled with mine long enough that I finally drilled two 1/8" holes near the outer edge and used my large snap ring pliers in the holes for leverage. I then pushed it in and twisted and it finally came loose. I then epoxied the holes, sanded it smooth and repainted it.

The piece with 3 arms (like a crown) in the lower right is attached to the steering wheel. The brass disc with 3 tabs is attached to the button. The tabs lock under the arms.

The horn button on mine is attached to the ring by means of three screws.

You'll see them once you remove the ring by pushing it all the way down and turning it clockwise.

Mine comes right off so let me know if you need pictures* to get an idea.

(Edit: *oops - I just noticed Merle posted pictures. I didn't see those the other day but at work they block some picture sites)

Horn rings were used on Pilothouse trucks for only one year - 1952, I believe. There are two different steering wheel styles - early and late - which have different spoke arrangements - early are spaced equally in three segments and late have one segment closer together towards the bottom. . I tried to add a ring to my own truck but had the wrong wheel.

Never heard of anyone having trouble getting a horn ring off. Now those black buttons are a different matter . . . :)

Good Luck
