Gregammon Posted May 10, 2009 Report Posted May 10, 2009 I want to remove all stainless trim from my 47 four door for a repaint. How are the door trim and rear quarter panel peices attached? Are they snapped onto the clips. If so what is the best way to remove them without damaging the trim? On my car the clip attachements are flaired inside the door panel, so they appear not to be removable. Thanks, Greg Quote
Gregammon Posted May 10, 2009 Author Report Posted May 10, 2009 I do not necessairly want to remove the clips. What I need to know is how do you remove the stainless trim from the doors and rear quarter panel of a 1947 Plymouth without damaging the trim. Is the trim snapped onto the clips? On other trim pieces the clips are bolted through the body. The door trim clips appear to be attached by flairnig a tab that penetrates the body panel. Thanks, Greg Quote
Young Ed Posted May 10, 2009 Report Posted May 10, 2009 To remove the trim you need to push down on it. I used a 2x4 and a rubber hammer. Once it moves down you can then pop it out from under the bottom of the clip and push it up off the top of the clip. On the 1/4 panel piece the last 1-2 are screwed on from inside the trunk. Quote
