blueskies
Will a 25" longblock fit in a 50 Plymouth without any modifications? Best. ARTHUR I think the short answer is... "no". But that doesn't mean you can't do it without a little modification. I'm sure the radiator would need to be moved forward, and you may have to adjust the front crossmember like Don Coatney did to clear the bottom pulley. You can see the clearance to the bottom pully in this pic. I think the long block would be very tight, and changing the belt would be difficult if at all possible. The front motormount would also have to be mounted farther forward, or maybe the legs could be reversed to find the original holes. I'm sure someone has done this swap, it can't be that hard. But it isn't a bolt in deal unfortunately, which is why I kept my 218 and stroked it to a 230. I didn't want to deal with the mods. RobertKB
Come on up to Canada and buy a 50 Plymouth as a parts car as all our 50 Plymouths came with the long block. All Canadian Plymouths from '37 on came with the long block just like the rest of the Mopar family. Probably practical to get a car up here unless live you live close to the border but as Pete said with a few modifications I'm sure it can be done as our Plymouths were identical in all other ways. Picture of my engine in my D25 (same car as a Plymouth) shows the long block engine.

claybill
the trick, as i heard it, is to reverse the radiator mounting frame..this will give you an extra 2 inches, the rest should bolt up. never did it, but i heard that is step ONE.
