On my sister's 2000 Caravan, I replaced the old battery for her and now the remote start needs to be reset...does anyone know how to do this???

Thanks!!!!:D

That's a bummer if you have to reset that with a computer. Try doing it like a garage door opener. See what happens if you hold the remote button down for a few minutes. Maybe it just has to search to find the right code. Don't know if that will work, but anything is worth a try.

Thanks Norm...I tried a few things but no dice. I read on one brand that you hold down the little button under the hood while you press the start button, but that didn't work.

One I haven't tried was unhook the battery and then hook it up again while pressing the button...I'll try that in the morning.

What a pain in the bottom these newfangled horseless buggies are!!!!

Pat, is the remote start factory, or aftermarket?

In my Caravan owners manual, it tells how to program a new key and

clicker. If factory item, the manual might talk about that as well.

If aftermarket, is there anyone around your area who installs them?

Maybe they would know.

Or, as a last resort, a dealership?

Don't know what my manual says. Looked in a 01 PT Cruiser book, did

not find that specific topic addressed. My van is a 2006. Will try to look

this morning.

Just an update for anyone who runs into this...after some searching I found that the remote start isn't factory, it's made by "nustart".

Went to their website, figured out which model starter it has and downloaded the manual...whew!!

So, you turn the key on and off 5 times in 7 seconds, then press "lock" on the remote within 7 seconds and it's done.

I like the old simple Mopars much better...this is way too involved for just changing a battery!!!

Pat...now that you are in the know (99 percent of all problems is lack of knowledge)..the set up is simple enough..my 2006 is a programming nightmare with a 400 page owers manual for all the things you can set up..so this or don't do that ..just way too involved for my liking..but hey..it's all double wieght ball bearings these days..
