Shawn, Your car is better off uncovered. When you put a cover on it out side it only traps moisture and rust forms much quicker. The best thing you could do is put plactic under the car so the floor dont rot which it will do if sitting on dirt out side.

I agree, if outdoors, a car cover causes more problems than it prevents. One of those portable "garages" are much better if you can swing it.

Thanks for letting me know that, I didn't know it will do such a thing. I guess you learn at least one new thing every day. As for the floors in this car, they are very very thin and I can poke a screw driver through most of it. I need to either make or buy replacement panels for it. Most likely will make them. They were like this when I bought it. They look fine but if you take a screwdriver and stab around gently there are some spots the screwdriver just falls right through.

I'd like to buy and have one of those car ports but I think in my neighborhood your not allowed to. My father said he is going to build a nice carport (he's a contractor) for all of my old cars and his old Lincoln but he is so busy all the time it will never happen. I will either buy a tarp or a huge piece of carpet and put underneath it to help slow the rusting down. I have primer and all the materials to fix the rust and such on the car and I did start taking the trim off to fix the rust behind it but I need to buy a $300 sand blaster and blast most of it. Really though I may make it sound bad but the rust on this car is nothing. Theres a few 4 inch spots of rust on the rockers, floors still fine to drive around in but very thing and spots behind the trim that are rusting and pitting but nothing major. Doing the body work on this car will be a huge deal since there is not a single flat panel on it and if the original color is black and that is what I go with then oh man, I will have a fun time getting it dent free. :D

BTW Bill, I want to try in about 2 years to find around 5-10 acres of land in Waxhaw area and fence it in with a little garage or something to keep my vehicles. It would be nice but nothing I can afford right now. We will see how the stocks treat me here in the next 2 to 4 years and go from there. ;):D

Shawn,

Call me when your ready, we can get your brakes going.

My son's name is Chris. He said he would help us. Andy

can be short/curt with you on the phone when ordering, just ignore him

his bark is worse than his bite.

He scares some of these forum guys around here.

I guess some people are just a little too sensitive sometimes.

Andy is just a big lug head and short with you if you don't know what your ordering. Get his Catalog first and then figure what you need - or just order.

It might be smart to peek into the front drums at the wheel cylinders first

and check their condition, they come off by hand without a puller.

Tom
