BobT-47P15 Posted March 10, 2009 Report Posted March 10, 2009 A while back, I got some rubber hood bumpers from a supplier....don't recall the name. After comparing them to the ones that come on a P15, they are not the same shape and not as tall. The ones that come on these cars are more "square cornered, and flat" on the top.....5/16" tall. The ones I bought are more rounded on top and are only 3/16" tall. They do not come above the fender edge, therefore they don't make contact with the edge of the hood, best I can tell. (Kinda hard to see with the hood closed:D ) Anyone have a source for the taller style?? Anyone have a source for the taller style??? Quote
steveplym Posted March 10, 2009 Report Posted March 10, 2009 I bought mine from Roberts Bob. You can see them in this pic. I removed the old ones and compared them, they seemed to be pretty close. Quote
bobby horne Posted March 10, 2009 Report Posted March 10, 2009 .............I found tire valve stems fit very good for hood bumpers..... Quote
Norm's Coupe Posted March 10, 2009 Report Posted March 10, 2009 Bob, I bought a few of those from a rubber parts place that has a booth at a local swap meet. They were the same size as my original bumpers. Don't remember the name of the place now, but I do have a receipt with their name and address. They also have a website but again, I've never been on the website since they are right here in Wisconsin anyway. Will look it up and get you the information. By the way, there are two different sizes for the hood bumpers. The two in the front of the nose are thinner than the rest of them. Also a little larger in diameter. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted March 10, 2009 Author Report Posted March 10, 2009 Those real thin ones, I have. They are OK. It's just the side ones, except for the front one on each side, are too short. Some good, original thinking there, Bobby. Quote
Norm's Coupe Posted March 10, 2009 Report Posted March 10, 2009 Bob, I'll try and dig out my receipt tomorrow and get the name and address for you. I bought both sizes from the guy. Getting ready to hit the sack now. Quote
Young Ed Posted March 10, 2009 Report Posted March 10, 2009 Bob I bought some very close ones right from the local hardware store. If you've got a good hardware store check it out for some. Quote
Norm's Coupe Posted March 11, 2009 Report Posted March 11, 2009 Bob, Here's a copy of the receipt for the bumpers. The part numbers are also on the receipt. It's the part number I bought 6 of. These are round bumpers, but so were the ones on my coupe. As you can see they have both a website and a toll free number. Don't know if they show the parts on their site. I've never gone onto it. Norm's Coupe Posted March 11, 2009 Report Posted March 11, 2009 You're welcome. Hope it helps. I did go on their website and ran a search for the SB-88 Bumpers. It came up as license plate bumpers. But.........they are also our hood bumpers. I remember they didn't have a listing for our hood bumpers. Me and one of the guys stood in the trailer and went through the drawers and matched up a sample bumper off my coupe that I had taken with me. Even the flat nose hood bumpers I bought don't say hood bumpers. Forgot what that part number came up as. As you can see I bought 2 each of the other two part numbers for the nose bumpers. That was because both of mine were broke into small pieces when I tried to get them out, so didn't have a sample to go by. Not sure which of the nose bumper part numbers is correct. Quote
