BobT-47P15 Posted January 7, 2007 Report Posted January 7, 2007 Saw this on an old (39 or 40) Chevy panel truck that's been fixed up as a street rod. One set on the body, other set on the door. Just tossing it out in case anyone might find it useful. I had not seen that type previously, And the vehicle it is on. Accidently shrunk the vehicle picture too much. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted January 7, 2007 Report Posted January 7, 2007 I found that these were not practical here on my Dodge..have not studied the P15..reason is the hinge on the Dodge is of the type that opens and rolls forward and will sheer any wiring harness facing the door jamb. (open your door and pace a small circle of tape and then fully open your door) Second using these contacts to eliminate the harness as intended, there is not enough room between the door and the jamb for mounting..not even the model for smaller gaps where one side is a flat contact type, the sharp angle at the last bit of door opening causes a sliding action on the contact and ever then there was still not enough room. This was a major snag for my D19 Bz Cp., finding an alternate method to run power for my door locks, opening solenoids and power windows. I posted my finding on this while back..including the solution. Quote
FMSPEED49 Posted January 7, 2007 Report Posted January 7, 2007 Had those on one car i had, problem is, once the door is open, all the switches are dead, so if u have power door locks, you can not lock them with the switch once the door is opened. kinda defetes the purpose of the door lock switch. Plymouthy Adams Posted January 7, 2007 Report Posted January 7, 2007 Actually when using these one should be installing a remote entry system. Quote
