I gambled that I might be able to start an old engine that only had 50" compression and I think I lost. Just not enough umph! Suppose I could have done a ring jog and got by but the mountains are near by and I want to be able to go to 8,000 ft and not worry, that is were there is some good fishing. So, have a second complete block. Contacted a highly reputable machine shop in town who does short blocks, will work with him and rebuild the other block and then have a reliable engine. Sure learned a lot, didn't spend much money and the things are purchased all transfer, so all I lost was some time. PF Quote
