There must be a number on them some where however I have ever seen it referenced. It was the same transmission form 1939 or whenever the floor shift changed to the column. They used it unchanged till 59 in cars and perhaps later in trucks and military applications.

The only variets were the OD unit, and a different ratio second gear set in 41/2. It is I believe a Borg Warner unit. There is a web page which difines the nomenclature from 60 on but again no reference to the previous model number of name.
