I have a friend, here in the UK, who needs an input shaft bearing for his 1939 Chrysler.

The part number is 692704.

Can anyone help with this, or point me in the right direction?

He has no internet connection, so I’m helping him with the search.

Thanks.

Robin.

Try Rovon Auto Parts in Coquitlam, British Columbia, Canada. He has a very extensive supply of old Mopar parts and is very easy to deal with. I have bought tons of stuff from him and always been satisfied. His phone number is 604-936-9312. You will have to go throught the usual international stuff on your end but this is the best way to contact him. He does not have a website but will send you a very extensive list of the parts he has for sale. It helps you know the parts number. Just makes things quicker.

Robin, have you tried a bearing company over there? Bearings are usually fairly easy to come by as the same bearing may be used for many different applications. If the part number is obsolete they can measure the bearing and come up with a replacement.

Suddensix is right. Most of the bearings in these cars were Timken and I am sure they are worldwide. Most bearings will have the numbers right on them and can be cross-referenced easily. When I restored my '38 Chrysler I was able to get all the bearings locally for the tranny, differential, axles, steering box, etc. Most were on the shelf and the rest were ordered in quickly.

Thanks Guys,

I've passed all that information on to Mark.

I'll let you know if he has any success.

His car's a beauty - right hand drive, built in the UK.

It wasn't registered until 1945 (after the war).

It's possible it was used by the military during the war, or just mothballed for the duration.
