what type for a 1950 d34 dot 3? i see alot of catalogs sell the silicone .

Are your brakes currently working and in good working condition?

If not replace/rebuild MC, wheel cyls, replace lines and hoses, replace or have re-lined all brake shoes, or convert front to disc.

If you need to do your brakes, and if they are not in good working order, don't fool around, replace and /or rebuild your system.

Then you can use either siicone Dot 5, or regular Dot 3 brake fluid, the choice is your's but I happen to be partial to silicone, only my opinion.

Good luck, and play it safe and take all precautions with your brakes........Fred

Most likely, unless someone else has changed it, you car would have DOT3 fluid in it. If so, stick with that. DOT3 and DOT4 can be mixed since they are both glycol based. But DOT5 CANNOT be mixed with DOT3 or 4.
