dezeldoc Posted August 18, 2008 Report Posted August 18, 2008 OK I know this has come up before but who has the best prices and quality on brake and fuel parts? I need all the brake shoes, springs, hoses, cylinders and master on the 50. Also need a kit or whole fuel pump. Thanks Mike Quote
Normspeed Posted August 18, 2008 Report Posted August 18, 2008 For the whole enchilada, Kanter in NJ sells complete rebuild packages. Quote
dezeldoc Posted August 19, 2008 Author Report Posted August 19, 2008 Anybody use this place? http://oldmoparts.com/ Quote
JoelOkie Posted August 20, 2008 Report Posted August 20, 2008 I have seen some post in the past indicating persons that disliked, or felt they didn't get good service/product from Andy Bernbaum http://oldmoparts.com/ . I have bought a lot of stuff from him in the past few years, and have absolutely no complaints in either the service, or the parts I have gotten thus far. That's my personal experience with Bernbaum. I have also bought from Kanters, and have been satasfied with them as well. I have also learned that a lot of parts that I would have figured were hard to get, or "specialty" items, are in fact many times readily available through the local NAPA, and other parts store. The local NAPA here can get whatever brake parts they don't have usually overnight, or at the most a day or two. Joel Quote
Lou Earle Posted August 20, 2008 Report Posted August 20, 2008 first of all you can take your old shoes to a brake shop and have them re lined very cheaply- almost all towns have a brake shop that still re lines- second I believe in fact know you can get new wheel cyls at Napa or get rebuild kits. I have only had a very few wheel cyls that could not be honed and emery cloth back to good and then install kit. Honing is easy all you need is drill and tool - about 8 bucks- remember you do not need to get the wheel cyl absolutely perfect just good and smooth for about one inch- the piston travels very little but pits or gouges in the travel area will render it un fixable. Master cyls are available from car quest and Napa but I believe r Bernie is cheaper- or was the last time I checked- I always check local Napa and other stores but be sure and check prices- Napa here wanted about 100 for a fuel pump and I got one for 65 at car quest springs- I do not know where to get them Lou Quote
49plymouthdotcom Posted August 20, 2008 Report Posted August 20, 2008 Heh, let's throw one more in here. Robert's auto parts http://www.robertsmotorparts.com. There's also this place: Jackson's in Duluth MN that has quite a few parts (engine, brake, drivetrain and suspension)... lets see here.... Ebay ID: chrysleroldtimeparts But they only have a small amount of parts listed there. I contacted them and they suggested calling the store directly. Here's the contact info for their main store. 1-888-399-PART(7278) or 218-624-5791. website: http://www.jacksonsparts.com/ Quote
dezeldoc Posted August 20, 2008 Author Report Posted August 20, 2008 The brake parts are pretty easy to come by as I have found out. The fuel pump is another story. I have access to a rivet machine to do the linings so that won't be a problem. Thanks for all the info, sorry if the Burnbaum thing is a sore subject don't want to start any wars! Quote
james curl Posted August 20, 2008 Report Posted August 20, 2008 Try Terrell Machine in DeLeon, Texas for any engine parts, including fuel pumps and water pumps. He also rebuilds vacuum advance units. He has an ad in Hemmings every month with his prices posted in the Chrysler general parts section. Quote
