Suddensix Posted August 18, 2008 Report Posted August 18, 2008 Got brave and tried to post some photos of my car from photobucket. The last time I did it, many moons ago, it actually worked so I wrote down what I did for the next time which was tonight. I went into photobucket, clicked on "img code" the copied box appeared then in my post I right clicked and selected "paste". Now instead of getting a photo I get the long gobillygook text that you should be able to click on for the image but nothing happens. What am I missing????? Quote
Allan Faust Posted August 18, 2008 Report Posted August 18, 2008 When in photobucket... posting here, you can do in a couple of ways... first, click on the "insert image" above your "reply box... looks like a yellow box with a mountain and sun on it....a little box will appear, requesting http:// . Erase that, and from the photobucket site, copy the "direct link" data into that box.... which would give this... Quote
Allan Faust Posted August 18, 2008 Report Posted August 18, 2008 Another method is to click on "go advanced" below the reply box which will take you to a bigger reply window, click on manage attachments below the reply pane, and either upload from your computer by using the browse key or copy in the data from the direct link into the upload file from a url (note the file size, anything larger than a certain file size will give you an error... I think its around 70 kilo bytes, but I could be wrong). And once you've completed the upload, click on preview post (to see if you got it right or not, you'll know) and then submit reply, to get this (using same pic, and same "direct link" info from photobucket.... Hope this helps... Allan Quote
Allan Faust Posted August 18, 2008 Report Posted August 18, 2008 Note also that the 2nd method I described allows you to see the pic in the same size as the first method (by clicking on the pic), however, for people still on dialup, it is a lot easier for them (instead of waiting for the big pics to load).. if they really want to see the bigger picture (and hence wait), well, they can then click on it or not.... Don Coatney Posted August 18, 2008 Report Posted August 18, 2008 When you paste the "img code" does it look something like this only without the spaces? Must have after. Quote
Merle Coggins Posted August 18, 2008 Report Posted August 18, 2008 I've noticed that when I'm using FireFox I get the "Copied" message when I click on the link in my Photobucket, but when I try to "Paste" it into my post I get whatever I previously "copied", not the Photobucket link. If I do a "right click" and then select "Copy" from the Photobucket site it will then Paste correctly. When using Internet Exploder I can just click on the link and it'll "Copy" like it shows. Then just Paste it into the text on my posts. That said, which browser are you using? Merle Quote

Suddensix Posted August 19, 2008 Author Report Posted August 19, 2008 I surrender, no matter how hard I try I can't post my photos. I have been trying to post 7 photos of my car and actually did get one to show up in a preview but that's it. So until someone who knows what they are doing shows up in person to help me with this chore you will have to take my word for it that it is a sweet ride. Thanks to Allan Faust for trying to get me on the right path. Cheers Gary Quote
NatesSedan Posted August 19, 2008 Report Posted August 19, 2008 This is how I do it step by step. (this is an image of a '49 I found from photobucket. 1. Find the image you want to post. 2. Right click your mouse on the image. 3. Go down to where it says properties and click on it 4. It should bring up another box. 5. In that box should look something like this : address (URL) -http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa154/pixguy/49ply4792.jpg 6. Copy the text (http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa154/pixguy/49ply4792.jpg) by highlighting it and right clicking 7.Now back to the message- Above the box you type in is 2 rows of symbols. the second row towards the right side has a box with mountains and a sun. Click the box and it will bring up a box that says "script prompt" 8. First hit backspace when http:// is highlighted in blue. This will erase it. Then paste your text in the box by right clicking your mouse and then clicking paste. Then click ok. This will put your picture up. It wont look like a picture though until you hit preview post. I hope this helps...I know it can be frustrating. 9. Quote
Allan Faust Posted August 19, 2008 Report Posted August 19, 2008 That is a great way of doing it Nate, and with that, you can take any picture off the net to paste into a message. It is probably easier that way, because there is only one possible line to copy, instead of 4 or five.... If suddensix wants the pics to be posted, he can post the link to his photobucket page (go to the page where your pictures are, and copy the entire address line into the message box) and we can go through it picture by picture to post them, and see what may be going wrong... We may even be able to create a sticky with the how-to once its done for general reference. Allan Quote
Suddensix Posted August 19, 2008 Author Report Posted August 19, 2008 Man these ideas all sound great until I try to do them. Once I have the URL address highlighted and swing back to the forum, click on the mountain/sun icon all I get is a flat boink from the computer and no image. I know I'm not good at this computer stuff but I did photos once before and it wasn't that hard cept now it won't work. To be honest although I really appreciate some of the instructions you guys have provided they might as well be written in Chinese cuz I don't understand the terminology. I'm going to bed now cuz my head hurts. Goodnight to all. Quote
Merle Coggins Posted August 19, 2008 Report Posted August 19, 2008 Your Pop-up Blocker may be blocking the "Insert Image" pop-up window from appearing. Try turning off any and all Pop-up Blockers then try it again. Merle Quote
Allan Faust Posted August 20, 2008 Report Posted August 20, 2008 I agree with Merle on that one.... your pop up blocker is not allowing the window to show up. However, if you take the code from the IMG Code (ie copy the entire text in the 4th box under your picture) in Photobucket, and paste it directly into the text frame here you will get essentially this line below; (without the spaces) If I remove the space I added after the http: to my line below, I get the picture below..; Quote
