Ken Bartz Posted August 17, 2008 Report Posted August 17, 2008 I was just at the tire shop to have a new set of tires put on the 1940 Plymouth business coupe. The tire guy told me that I have a stripped lug bolt thread on the front left of the car. Now, I don't know if he did that or if it had been that way. I told him in the beginning that the left side of the car had left handed threads. SO, is there a repair that can be done to the threads or do I need to find a brake drum? If course with a different brake drum comes the bearings too. Is there any time saving, short cut advise out there? Quote
1948Skip Posted August 18, 2008 Report Posted August 18, 2008 Ken, If you can find NOS drums the outer bearing cones come with the drums. All you would have to is clean up the drum and transfer the bearing races. Try and clean out the stripped hole, thats if the clown did not force the bolt back into the hole. Best of luck Skip Quote
Jerry Roberts Posted August 18, 2008 Report Posted August 18, 2008 Because it is left hand thread , the problem might be hard to fix . Call a local machine shop or two and explain the problem and see what they say . Quote
